Submissions

If you would like to submit a manuscript to Kegedonce Press for consideration, the works of Indigenous writers who are previously published are welcome. Those without publishing credits should try to first submit their work to journals, anthologies, and other literary publications.

While our main focus is poetry and fiction, we will also accept manuscripts in other literary genres. To submit a manuscript, please send a writing sample of one chapter of a work of fiction, or poems, neither totalling more than 20 pages and a brief bio. Do Not Send Entire Manuscripts without a formal request from Kegedonce Press. Manuscripts sent to Kegedonce Press for consideration will only be returned if a SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope) is provided. Please allow up to 3 months for a reply.

Kegedonce Press Policy: We do NOT accept simultaneous submissions. If you have sent your manuscript to another publisher, do NOT send it to us until you have heard back from that publisher. If you have sent your manuscript to Kegedonce Press, do not submit it to another publisher until you have given us 4 months to review the manuscript and you have notified us in writing that you are withdrawing the manuscript from consideration by Kegedonce Press. If we discover that a submission made to Kegedonce Press has been submitted elsewhere before our entire review and, if applicable, negotiation process is complete, we will immediately terminate our review and/or negotiations and return the manuscript to the writer (if an SASE was provided). If we made the author aware of this policy and that author simultaneously submitted in spite of this, we will also refuse all future submissions from that writer (unless you can bribe us, become a bestselling author, or win the Nobel Prize for literature, then we might think about if you ask really really nicely and we're in a good mood). We might also inform other publishers. If you are planning to simultaneously submit your manuscript, at the very least let the publishers involved know upfront so they can decide whether or not to look at it. Most of us probably won't but we'll respect the fact that you were honest about it.

SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS

What it means: Submitting a manuscript for consideration to publish to more than one publisher at a time

Bottom line
: Simultaneous submissions = BAD. Don't do it. No publisher we know of accepts simultaneous submissions and most, if not all, of us get extremely annoyed (or even mean!) when authors do it surreptitiously. Now you know.
