A Dogrib (Tlicho) Dene from Fort Smith, NWT, Richard Van Camp is an internationally renowned storyteller and best-selling author. He is the author of the novel The Lesser Blessed, a collection of short stories Angel Wing Splash Pattern, and two children's books with Cree artist, George Littlechild.
His new baby book Nighty-Night: A Bedtime Song for Babies is the official selection for the NWT Literacy Council and will be given out to 1,000 families across the north. His previous baby book, Welcome Song for Baby: A Lullaby for Newborns, was the official selection of the Books for BC Babies program and was given to every newborn baby in British Columbia in 2008. Richard has also published a novel and two short story collections including Angel Wing Splash Pattern published with Kegedonce Press ion 2002. He has two comic books out: Path of the Warrior, with Cree artist Steve Sanderson (illustrator of The Way of Thorn and Thunder trilogy published by Kegedonce Press) and Kiss Me Deadly, with Haida artist Chris Auchter, through the Healthy Aboriginal Network. Richard was awarded Storyteller of the Year for both Canada and the US by the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers.
